Saturday Live Sessions - The Amazons
5th February 2016
This Saturday, make sure to listen to the Live Session from 12pm for some fresh, grimy indie rock tunes – brought to you by The Amazons live from our studio.
These Reading lads aren’t called ‘amazons’ for no reason: their music is powerful, energetic and wild, yet still kind of melodic. They were on tour with names such as The Kooks and performed at many UK festivals, including Live at Leeds or Bushstock.
One of their recent singles, Junk Food Forever truly describes the anger, melancholy and emptiness that one can feel in-between a recently ended relationship and actually moving on. It was mixed by Catherine Marks who previously worked with Foals, Wolf Alice and White Lies.
The guys will be playing in Think Thank in Newcastle this Friday and it’s such a pleasure to have them playing for us all at Durham Uni, too. So don’t hesitate too much, listen to Purple Radio at 3pm (and any time in general, of course). It will be a pretty amazing experience. Also, if you are dying to know what’s the boys’ favourite junk food, why they’re playing imaginary drums in their clip of Ultraviolet or anything equally important, message the studio and we’ll try our best to ask them all your questions.
