![]() To celebrate Purple Radio's successful 2008 launch, we're having a bit of a bash This Wednesday, 30th January, we're taking over Chase for the night - so come and join the Purple revelry. Music will be provided by a live Jazz band. You'll be handed free champagne on arrival, and there'll be opportunities to grab some goodie bags from our sponsors throughout the night, as well as free CDs from us. As the evening progresses, we'll feature gigs from a couple of up-and-coming bands from the Northeast, followed by live DJ sets to round the evening off. The evening is kindly sponsored by Centrica and 3 Store Durham, who'll be on hand with exclusive offers and a competition launch. The Purple exec and DJs will be there, as well as folks from any number of DSU clubs and societies. So come and join us! Tickets are £4 on the door from 8pm, or £3 if you're wearing Purple Stash. |

Congratulations to Purple Radio's Jacob Niedzwiecki on scooping the bronze award in the Best Specialist Music Programming category at this year's Student Radio Awards. Jacob's show, "Different Drum" was entered for the award back in July. Discover more about the 2007 Student Radio Awards and the Student Radio Association. The evening ceremony was held in central London on Thursday 15th November and showcased the very best of UK student radio talent. Final nominees were judged by broadcasting industry professionals such as Scott Mills, "Comedy" Dave Vitty, Vernon Kay, Zane Lowe, and Andy Parfitt (Controller - BBC Radio 1). The award is a great achievement for Jacob and impressive recognition of his work on "Different Drum". It is also a first for Purple Radio.
