| Levi Roots: The musician behind the sauce - DJ Balls |
|
If you had to choose between music and cooking what would you go for? L: I would take the music because that would inspire me to do other things. Do you agree that reggae music is the best genre of music out there? L: Absolutely, it is a genre of music that educates like no other music. We call it ‘edutainment’. Most other music concentrates on the ‘I love you boy meets girl’ thing but if you go to the archives of reggae you will see that the core thing about reggae is educating people, nearly all of Bob Marley’s songs were cultural. You’ve conquered TV and Music, are there any other fields you want to go into? L: You say conquered but let me just confirm that it is still only the UK you know. The world is even bigger. Has Reggae Reggae Sauce made it to America yet? L: No currently it’s still only a UK brand. If you couldn’t put Reggae Reggae Sauce on your food, what other sauce would you go for? L: Why would you? Always go for Reggae Reggae Sauce. Fair point, but imagine a national emergency where there is little to no Reggae Reggae Sauce… L: Well my advice is always keep one in your cupboard in case of an emergency. What do you think of the song ‘Fatty Bum Bum’, do you like it? L: I love that song. I absolutely love that song from back in the day when there wasn’t such political correctness. It really celebrates big and beautiful women because traditionally we love big women; it’s always about the big beautiful women. Any plans to tour with the album? L: Yeah, it’s been discussed. I’d love to do a university tour so we’ll see how it goes. So, the lessons learnt there are to keep eating but only when Reggae Reggae Sauce is at hand and of course keep listening to reggae, especially now it’s confirmed to be the best genre of music out there. Blessed.
