Tuning In

mp3_stream_by_purpleradio1.jpgWe've made it as simple as possible to listen to Purple. You can either listen online with our unique Purple Player or use a program on your computer. Using the Purple Player is the easiest way, just click here and the player will open in a popup window. Click the play icon and you will be tuned in. However, some computers may have some issues so we've provided some guides for Windows, Mac and Linux users on how to connect to Purple. In addition to all these, the Purple Player can be used on the cutting-edge desktops or broadband equipped laptops. 

Windows

If you can't use the Purple Player, the best program to use is Windows Media Player which comes pre-installed with your Windows Operating System. 

  • Open Windows Media Player 11 from Start > Programs
  • Right click on the menu bar at the top, choose File then Open URL

  • Press OK and you will be listening to Purple Radio


Mac

You will need iTunes, which comes installed as standard on any new Mac, the latest version can be downloaded from itunes.com.  

  • Open up iTunes - it can be found on your Dock or inside the Applications folder on your hard disk
  • Click on Advanced in the menu bar at the top and choose Open Stream

  • Press OK and you will be listening to Purple Radio
 

Linux

We do not provide instructions for Linux, as there are so many players available. We have successfully tested Purple with Rhythmbox on the GNOME desktop environment. If you player supports streaming content, it should work fine with Purple Radio. All you need to do is enter http://www.purpleradio.co.uk:8000/purpleradio.mp3.m3uas the name of our stream. However, we can not provide technical support for any Linux systems.
