The Station Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the station. They work as the leader of an Exec team to make improvements and make the station increasingly professional while helping facilitate the needs of its members. 

The Station Manager spends much of their time dealing with external issues such as regulation, licensing and finance, as well as being the overall face and main contact point for the station.

Alex Orton

Assistant Station Manager

The Assistant Manager's role is to help the Station Manager with the running of the station. This includes helping to lead the Exec, sitting on the University Media Committee and making sure the station is fully stocked with everything it needs.


The Assistant Manager also acts as the Secretary, writing the weekly email, and Treasurer of the station, and therefore is in charge of all station finances. 

Molly Stazicker

Head of Broadcasting Standards

The Head of Human Resources at Purple Radio is responsible for training all members in the studio, ensuring that all broadcasting standards are met, being the first point of contact for all members of the station regarding any issues or queries.


The Head of Human Resources is also responsible for ensuring that membership is paid and that all members have read and signed the contract. 

 

Max Kendix

Head of On Demand

The Head of On Demand at Purple Radio is responsible for everything podcasts. From ensuring that producers are matched with appropriate podcasts, to training members in the podcast studio and in producing their podcast to a high standard. The Head of On Demand also acts as and Executive Producer to all On Demand content. 

Joanna Wright

Head of Live Production

The Head of Live Production at Purple Radio is essentially responsible for everything that goes out live on air. The Head of Live Production ensures that everything that goes out on air is legal and professional.


The head of Live Production is also responsible for the show schedule, matching producers with relevant shows and providing training for them and is the first point of contact for all Dj's to discuss ideas or be there for advice. The Head of Live Production also has heavy involvement in the coordinating and running of outdoor broadcasts. 

Elle Woods-Marshall

Heads of Promotions

The Heads of Promotions are entrusted with raising the profile of the station, organising events, posters and other publicity to make sure everyone knows what is going on with the station. They are also in charge of promoting Purple Radio as a brand, and making sure as many people as possible are aware of what we do!


They also have the task of making connections with businesses and organisations. They are in charge of organising events and gigs, as well as making use of anything they can get their hands on to promote the station and the sponsors.

Head of Music

The Head of Music is one of the most important roles at a radio station. They lead a team which chooses new music each week and updates the station's playlists accordingly.

They are also responsible for running our weekly music show and Saturday Live Sessions where talented up-and-coming artists perform live! 

Bill Pain

Heads of News

The Heads of News at Purple Radio are responsible for all news output during the broadcast day. They are also the managers of the News Team, delegating out slots for the station's twice-daily bulletins and also leading the news team in writing, editing and broadcasting the Purple News Show, Newsfeed which airs every Thursday.


They also lead investigations into current topics which affect students in everyday life. At the 2019 Student Radio Awards, our News Team was awarded first prize in the Best Journalistic Programme for their Housing Investigation.

 

Natalie Ho

Head of Visualisation

The Head of Visualisation is responsible for the graphics and videos which are used on Purple's social media accounts and the show images on the website.


They also maintain our YouTube channel and create promotional material such as Freshers Fair flyers. 

Jacob Dobson

Head of Tech

The Head of Tech ensures that the station continues to broadcast!

 

They are responsible for looking after the station's computers, internet connection and fixing any issues with mics or any other problems that one can find in a radio station. 

 

Archie Hodgson & Ben Sharp

Heads of Sport

The Head of Sport at Purple Radio is responsible for all output on the station of Sport news and coverage. 

They are also in charge of all live coverage of sport events around Durham including pitch side commentating and post match interviews, and present the weekly Sportsfeed show which is broadcast on a Sunday night and came second at the 2019 Student Radio Awards.
