The Station Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the station. They work as the leader of an Exec team to make improvements and make the station increasingly professional while helping facilitate the needs of its members.

The Station Manager spends much of their time dealing with external issues such as regulation, licensing and finance, as well as being the overall face and main contact point for the station.

The Deputy Manager's role is to help the Station Manager with the running of the station. This includes helping to lead the Exec and making sure the station is fully stocked with everything it needs.

The Deputy Manager also acts as the Secretary, writing the weekly email, taking minutes in meetings, and is involved in the financial happenings of the station with the Station Manager.

The Head of Live Production at Purple Radio is essentially responsible for everything that goes out live on air. The Head of Live Production ensures that everything that goes out on air is legal and professional.

The head of Live Production is also responsible for the show schedule, matching producers with relevant shows and providing training for them and is the first point of contact for all Dj's to discuss ideas or be there for advice. The Head of Live Production also has heavy involvement in the coordinating and running of outdoor broadcasts.

The Head Designer is responsible for the graphics and videos which are used on Purple's social media accounts and the show images on the website.

They also maintain our YouTube channel and create promotional material such as Freshers Fair flyers.

The head of Live Production is also responsible for the show schedule, matching producers with relevant shows and providing training for them and is the first point of contact for all Dj's to discuss ideas or be there for advice. The Head of Live Production also has heavy involvement in the coordinating and running of outdoor broadcasts.

The Head of Podcasts at Purple Radio is responsible for training all members in the podcast suite, ensuring that all production and presenting standards are met, and is the first point of contact for all members of the station regarding podcasting.

Head of Social Media

Purple Radio's Head of Social Media manages all station social promotions across a range of platforms, and assists with wider digital marketing schemes as well as live events organisation.

Hannah Hastings

Head of Welfare and Training

Purple's Head of Welfare and Training is the first point of call for all members' wellbeing, providing support through drop-in sessions and online communications to nurture the station community. They are also in charge of training all members with the physical equipment as well as any media law training or specific desired further training in specific departments.

Teddy Sharp

Head of Live Events

The Head of Live Events at Purple Radio organises all socials and promotional events, such as gigs, live studio sessions with local artists, and other station and university wide initiatives. They are the first point of call for any parties looking for media coverage of an event, or other societies interested in joint socials.

The Tech team works to keep Purple's radio stream running 24/7 and maintains and repairs all of the studio equipment.

Purple Radio's Head of Outreach and Alumni is in charge of all external promotions and collaborations with previous Purple members, prospective collaborators, charities and local initiatives.

The Heads of News at Purple Radio are responsible for all news output during the broadcast day. They are also the managers of the News Team, delegating out slots for the station's twice-daily bulletins and also leading the news team in writing, editing and broadcasting the Purple News Show, Newsfeed which airs every Thursday.

They also lead investigations into current topics which affect students in everyday life. At the 2019 Student Radio Awards, our News Team was awarded first prize in the Best Journalistic Programme for their Housing Investigation.

The Head of Sport at Purple Radio is responsible for all output on the station of Sport news and coverage.

They are also in charge of all live coverage of sport events around Durham including pitch side commentating and post match interviews, and present the weekly Sportsfeed show which is broadcast on a Sunday night and came second at the 2019 Student Radio Awards.

The Head of Music is one of the most important roles at a radio station. They lead a team which chooses new music each week and updates the station's playlists accordingly.

​They are also responsible for running our weekly music show and Saturday Live Sessions where talented up-and-coming artists perform live!

The Head of Drama and Arts leads the creation of radio dramas and coverage of arts events, as well as sorting out radio drama productions and cross-collaboration works with DST and other theatre companies.
