Members' Update - Welcome to the New Term!

Hi everyone!

Welcome (or welcome back) to Purple Radio! We’ve had so many of you signing up to our mailing list this year that it’s actually caused technical problems with the amount of emails we’re having to send out. Not that I’m complaining, though. If this is your first email from me, hello! I’m Simon, the Deputy Station Manager at Purple Radio this year, and I’ll be the one sending out these email updates about the station every week or so.

There’s lots going on at the station as we gear up to get all the new shows and podcasts on air as quickly as possible, whether it’s processing all the wonderful applications we’ve received so far, to coming in seemingly every other day to add yet another coat of paint to our new studio. It’s super cool, by the way, especially after being housed in a meeting room throughout last year. Anyway, on that topic…

Give-it-a-go sessions!

We’ve had 2 give-it-a-go sessions in the past week, with one more to come on Wednesday, between 2pm and 5pm at our new home in Maiden Castle (look for our banner from reception). Even if you haven’t made a booking at https://linktr.ee/Purple.Radio, you’re welcome to drop in and have a go with our equipment, and ask any questions you might have! Feedback from these has been super positive so far, and it’s been fun for me personally to meet everyone that’s got even the slightest interest in radio!

Show and Podcast Applications!

Applications are still open if you’re interested in starting a live show or podcast this year (or continuing one from last year), but not for much longer! Submissions close at 5pm on Friday 15th of October, and once again, the form for that is over at https://linktr.ee/Purple.Radio. Oh, and if you’ve already put in an application? Good news! You (should) be finding out when you’re going on air when we publish our new schedule in next week’s email, so make sure to keep an eye out!

SRA Training Events!

The Student Radio Association (which we’re a part of) is going to be running some training days this week! And that’s pretty much it for this week! Normally I’d throw in a cooking tip at the end here, but I recently got a rice cooker and just wanted to rant a little about how cool it is? Just pour some rice and water in, leave it for a bit, then it’s all sorted while you can prepare the other parts of your meal? Absolutely magic.
